Building Peace
UpTogether partners with FORCE Detroit (a Community Violence Intervention organization incubated by Faith in Action) to invest directly in Detroit individuals and families who have been impacted by community violence. Participants receive $500 per month in unrestricted cash for six months to support peacemaking and trauma-reducing efforts. The initiative is privately funded and is one of several direct-cash pilots UpTogether operates across Michigan. UpTogether is a national nonprofit (formerly Family Independence Initiative) that provides unrestricted cash and trusts recipients to determine their own priorities.
