Delhi Lakshmi Yojana (formerly Mukhyamantri Mahila Samriddhi Yojana / 'Mahila Samridhi Yojana')
The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana (originally announced as the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samriddhi Yojana) is a Delhi state government cash transfer scheme, approved by the Delhi Cabinet in March 2025, that will provide eligible low-income women Rs 2,500 (~$26 USD) per month via direct bank transfer. It targets women aged 21-60 from families resident in Delhi for at least 10 years with annual household income under Rs 2.5 lakh (~$2,588 USD), with only one woman per eligible family receiving the benefit. As of this research (July 2026), the scheme has been formally re-announced and renamed but has not yet begun accepting applications or disbursing payments; rollout is targeted around Raksha Bandhan (~28 August 2026). It is administered by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi.

Eligible women are to receive Rs 2,500/month (~$25.89 USD/month; ~Rs 30,000 / ~$310.66 USD annually) transferred directly into an Aadhaar-linked, single-operated bank account via India's Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Only one woman per eligible family may receive the benefit; if multiple women in a family qualify, the eldest eligible woman is selected. As of July 2026 the government has not announced the disbursement start date, first payment date, or registration/application portal. Some earlier (March 2025) reporting on the original proposal referenced an additional one-time Rs 21,000 maternity benefit plus 6 nutrition kits for pregnant beneficiaries, but this component was not mentioned in the finalized July 2026 eligibility announcement and could not be independently confirmed as part of the current program.

Application Process
- How to apply
As of July 2026, the application process has not yet been launched. The Delhi government has stated that an online registration portal and mobile application are being developed and will be announced at the scheme's official rollout (targeted around Raksha Bandhan, ~28 August 2026). No confirmed application steps exist at this time; prior reporting referenced Aadhaar card, Aadhaar-linked bank passbook, proof of Delhi residence, income certificate, voter ID, ration card, and a passport-size photo as likely required documents, but the final document list has not been officially confirmed.
- Selection process
Not yet officially announced. Government statements indicate applications will be screened using Aadhaar-based e-KYC authentication and verification of eligibility criteria (age, 10-year Delhi residency, household income, absence of government pension/other benefits, no four-wheeler ownership, no family criminal record), with only one (the eldest eligible) woman per family approved. A Delhi Cabinet-level implementation committee led by CM Rekha Gupta (with ministers Ashish Sood, Parvesh Sahib Singh, and Kapil Mishra) was formed to oversee rollout.
