Cost of Living Relief Payment (2026)

Impact Regions
Turks and Caicos Islands

The Turks and Caicos Islands Government's Cost of Living Relief Payment is a one-time $500 direct cash grant approved by Cabinet on June 24, 2026 for approximately 13,000 eligible British Overseas Territories Citizens (BOTCs) and Turks and Caicos Islands Status Holders. It is intended to ease the financial burden of rising fuel prices and cost-of-living pressures tied to global economic conditions. The roughly $6.5 million programme is funded entirely from the Turks and Caicos Islands Government's general revenue/budget. It is administered by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Investment and Trade through the online colrelief.gov.tc portal, with payment via cheque collected or delivered by island. It is the fourth round of direct citizen cash relief the government has issued since 2021, following similar one-time grants in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Eligible applicants receive a single $500 cheque, collected in person at a designated Treasury or distribution site on the island where they applied. A Cheque Delivery Service is available for applicants who are differently-abled or confined to their homes; requests for this service must be emailed to colreliefsupport@gov.tc. This is the same colrelief.gov.tc portal infrastructure the government has reused since a November 2024 $1,000 round of the Cost of Living Relief Programme. Prior 2021 and 2022 rounds required valid government-issued photo ID and an application number to collect cheques, with uncollected cheques cancelled one month after printing.

Application Process

How to apply

Eligible TCI Status Holders and BOTCs applied online through the colrelief.gov.tc portal, which opened July 15, 2026 and closed July 22, 2026. Applicants uploaded/submitted required identification documents (TCI Status Card or equivalent birth certificate documentation, or a valid BOTC passport/certificate) confirming their status and age. Approved applicants collect a $500 cheque in person on the island where they applied, or may request the Cheque Delivery Service by emailing colreliefsupport@gov.tc if differently-abled or homebound.

Selection process

Cabinet approved the programme and budget on June 24, 2026. The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Investment and Trade then verified each online application against submitted TCI Status/BOTC documentation and the 18+ age requirement before approving cheques for disbursement by island. Detailed verification and payment timelines beyond the application window were not fully published at time of research.
